You have a lot of public transport options in Budapest. You can take the tram, bus, trolley, railway or the metro. You can find a stop every 400 meters and you can expect these public transports available from as early as 4:30 AM to as late as 11 PM. Tickets

You need to get tickets if you would be using any of these public transports in Budapest and you need to purchase them in advance and not when you get on the bus or train. Take note of the different tickets as they vary according to purpose. The single ticket, which you can also buy in blocks of 10, is the most convenient ticket to buy.

It can be used for all types of public transport and one ticket is valid for one nonstop trip. You can also buy tickets or travel cards that are valid for a certain period of time and you can use this for unlimited trips. You can choose from 24 hours, 72 hours and 7 days travel cards. There is also the family ticket which can be used for 1 to 2 adults and 1 to 7 children that are below 14 of age. Other types are the single transfer ticket, metro section ticket and night tickets

After buying the ticket of choice, just have them validated and you’re good to go. Having these tickets is important. If an inspector catches you without one, you need to pay the fine which is for 6000 HUF.
